Double Sided

If Captain Blackwake is the terror above the waves, this is the nightmare below.

The Kraken Coin is a 40 mm by 3 mm solid brass medallion featuring a massive tentacled sea monster dragging ships into the deep. Coiled tentacles, swirling water, and a skull at the base drive home one message:

The sea does not negotiate.

Designed as the arch-enemy to the Captain Blackwake coin, this piece looks like it was pulled from a barnacle-covered chest at the bottom of the ocean.

Translated from a resonance beneath the Maelstrom

The Testimony of the Deep

The sea remembers the captain who refused to kneel.

But Blackwake’s log tells only what the surface was permitted to hear.

Translated from a resonance beneath the Maelstrom

The Testimony of the Deep

Fragment I — Before Men Named the Sea

Before men gave names to storms, I moved beneath them.

Before they drew borders across the water, every current answered to the deep.

Their kingdoms rose. Their vessels crossed above me. Their bones descended and became part of the silence.

I remained.

Fragment II — The Judgment

His fleet entered the storm carrying steel, fire, and the certainty that the sea belonged to men.

I broke that certainty.

Masts splintered. Sails vanished beneath black water. One by one, every voice surrendered to the deep.

Every voice but his.

I carried the captain below—not as prey, but as judgment.

“Fear me.”

“No.”

“Then drown with me.”

Fragment III — The One Who Would Not Sink

For three days, I filled his lungs with the sea.

His flesh failed.

His bones broke.

Still, his will refused the silence.

He closed one hand around me and answered judgment with steel. Lightning entered the water. Fire moved where fire could not live.

The wound remains.

So does he.

Fragment IV — What He Carried Away

Blackwake surfaced with my flesh clenched inside his hand.

He believed he had torn victory from the deep.

He sealed the fragment within brass and carried it aboard his ship. His crew gave it a name:

The Kraken’s Marrow.

They hear it moving in the darkness. They watch it change without understanding what it remembers.

Not all wounds are losses.

Not everything taken was stolen.

Final Fragment — The Returning Tide

The mark within Blackwake answers the flesh inside the reliquary.

When the compass trembles, he believes I am calling him back.

He is mistaken.

I am calling what grows beside him home.

The judgment remains unfinished.

And the tide always returns.
